Going Out

John
Memories of Kirkham Pubs & Clubs

John provides a lively account of the pubs and clubs in Kirkham and Wesham during the 70s & 80s, when a country and western group, would end the night firing muskets up into the ceiling! His first glass of Boddington’s tasted like a rusty nail, while the third was like a glass of honey!

Mark
Working as a DJ in Kirkham

Mark remembers going out as being closely intertwined with his working life, as he started his working life as a glass collector and then began a mobile disco, eventually DJing at Charlie Macs.

This work forms part of Kirkham’s Heritage, Health & Wellbeing programme. It has been funded through the Kirkham Futures programme, a partnership between Historic England (part of the High Street Heritage Action Zone) and Fylde Borough Council.
