I recently ran a workshop for year 9 art students at Carr Hill High School. The students learnt a range of fused glass techniques including frit work, glass painting and copper foil inclusions. They then used these skills to create their own unique fused glass disks inspired by Kirkham’s heritage.
To begin with Students developed designs based on photos of Kirkham through time.
They then recreated their designs in glass using the new techniques they learnt. Here are a few examples of the pieces the student’s created.
To see all of the finished artwork come down to our opening event on the 10th July.
The collective piece will be on display in Kirkham centre just off Poulton Street.
