The Twelve Days Of Kirkham

Look around Kirkham and you will find 12 festive window art designs, on 12 high street windows, each of them is numbered and represent one of the “Twelve Days of Kirkham”, which in turn each celebrate an aspect of Kirkham’s rich heritage.

The well-known carol, “The Twelve Days of Christmas”, has been re-written by the community to celebrate Kirkham’s Heritage.

Meet The Artists

Gaenor Hall

Gaenor works in an array of mediums such as clay, wax, textiles and found objects. Drawing is a fundamental practice that underpins all of her work, be that, drawing directly from nature, abstraction of mark or illustrating an idea. Her work is inspired by the integral nature of materials that she uses in her handling of drawing and painting medium.

Gill Smith

Gill Smith is a Liverpool based illustrator. She completed an MA in Children’s Book Illustration at The Cambridge School of Art in 2019 and was short-listed for The Batsford Prize and a winner of the Picture This illustration competition in 2020.

Katie Halsall

Katie Halsall is an Illustrator based in West Lancashire who specialises in pen, ink and watercolour. Her drawings and illustrations are often inspired by European fairy-tales, nature and the twinkly night sky. Katie loves to create magical moonlit scenes and imagine the goings on in her garden at twilight. As a mum to three young girls Katie get lots of ideas and inspiration from their garden adventures, wonderful creations, and wild imaginings.

Artist: Maxine Lee-Mackie

Maxine Lee-Mackie is a Liverpool (UK) based illustrator and designer, freelancing since graduating with a BA(Hons) in Digital Arts in 2004 and working part-time as a college art technician and a visiting lecturer in Graphic Design, Multimedia and Art.

Her inspiration comes from many people, places and things but has deep roots in fashion, children’s books and pop culture.
